About Us
William Dickson Industries, Inc. and Dickson Bulk Services, Inc. are family owned and operated trucking and logistics companies started by Bill Dickson (pictured below) to serve the local construction, road maintenance, and energy industries in the Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio region via their fleets of triaxle dump and tractor trailer (dump/pneumatic tank) trucks.
Founded in Latrobe, PA, over 50 years ago, the companies moved to Derry, PA, in 2004 and expanded operations with the WDI Yard to serve the public, selling landscaping material, including gravel, decorative stone, screened and unscreened topsoil, mushroom compost, and mulch, as well as coal and firewood.

GIVING BACK TO OUR COMMUNITY
At WDI Yard, we believe in the power of community, which is why we actively support and sponsor local organizations and events that make a difference. By giving back, we help foster growth, connection, and a stronger, more vibrant community for everyone. These are organizations which we’ve sponsored, either through cash donations or donations of material and deliveries from our yard:

They are hosted by the Sportsmen's Association of Greensburg and compete in the Pennsylvania High School Clay Target League. Their priorities are safety, fun, and marksmanship - in that order! They believe all area youth should have the opportunity to participate, and that each child should have a positive learning experience in a safe, fun environment, build friendships, teach sportsmanship, and have a fair and equal playing field. -

The Westmoreland Fair celebrated 70 years in 2024. In 1954, a group of local farmers and businessmen with an interest and passion for agriculture in Westmoreland County established and incorporated the Westmoreland Agricultural Fair and Recreation Association. In the very beginning of the Westmoreland Agricultural Fair and Recreation Association, the Fair organized by the Association was held at Idlewild Park, located in Ligonier, Pennsylvania. At that time, the Fair lasted only three days and was attended primarily by 4-H exhibitors, their families and by people who just happened to be attending the amusement park. Over the years the Fair’s Board of Directors focused efforts on adding permanent buildings to house a growing fair. Today, there are 20 buildings including barns, pavilions, and small arena – complete with stage. In 1990, the Fair constructed a new Grandstand Arena complete with roof and with seats for 4,600 and room to expand audiences to more than 7,000. -

The Latrobe Derry Area Teener League Field, or the Rosa/Oglietti Field, was overhauled for the 2004 season in a project titled "Field of Dreams". As part of the renovations, the Timken Latrobe Steel Co. Pavilion was constructed. The pavilion was officially dedicated on opening day, Saturday April 17, 2004. While the creation of the pavilion is the most noticeable change that the 2004 season brought, there were many other improvements made to add to our guests' enjoyment. These updates include the renovation of the dugouts, administration building and concession stand. The addition of the new facility along with the renovation of existing facilities has provided guests with a more enjoyable and relaxing experience.
